In effect, the generally simple task of losing weight is made very difficult and complicated.

The low-fat diet is the best and most effective weight loss plan IF properly followed. A low-fat diet program is a diet that is based on the notion that a reduction in the intake of fat along with regular physical activity would result in long-term weight loss. Thus, this kind of diet recommends meals with low fat or no fat at all. The good thing about this diet is that it results in steady weight loss if properly set up or administered by an experienced weight loss and health professional. Unluckily though, there are many low-fat diet programs that recommends meals with very low fat content reduced to such a level that it becomes unhealthy for the individual. Some low-fat diets on the other hand, are more on the high-carbohydrate notion which is not good as well. Most often also, low-fat diet plans do not yield results quickly. Fat loss is very slow as a result of the un-optimized meal programs and diet menus. Reiterating what I have mentioned earlier, the low fat diet is the most effective way of losing weight. The downsides mentioned are due to the incorrect way of administering the diet and not of the diet itself.



A high-protein diet recommends meals of high protein and low carbohydrate. This program is based on the principle that carbohydrates contributes greatly to fat accumulation and weight gain, thus, reducing its intake and replacing it with protein results in fat and weight loss. This diet would make you lose weight faster than the low-fat diet but is not very effective for long-term weight loss. This diet is also healthy in the sense that it results in a steady blood sugar level. On the other hand, this weight loss plan which encourages a high consumption of protein equally means that it encourages a high consumption of saturated fats. This is very unhealthy as it increases the risk for heart-related diseases. In addition, since the amount of carbohydrates being consumed is very low, the burning of the fatty acids by the kidneys are very quick making them work overtime. This could lead to serious health disorders. Hence, I suggest that this weight loss plan be avoided.



The fixed-menu program provides you with a fixed list of meals that you are allowed to eat. Pros include the fact that since the food choices have already been selected for you, keeping count of the amount of calories would no longer be a problem for you. However, since the food choices are very minimal, it is not very effective in the long run because the dieter tends to experience difficulty in following the program and slip to his old habits of eating whatever foods he wants. It could also be harmful in the sense that a balanced diet is not provided.



The best weight loss plan for you is the one that you can call a healthy program and at the same time, yield long term effects.

But the truth is you can make up your own raw food diet just by deciding you're going to eat predominately raw foods.

The important thing to remember is that whatever you choose you should eat a lot of. If you're going to eat a lot of fruit - that isn't just a banana and apple a day. You want to eat a lot of fruits and especially different fruits to get the benefit of all the different phytonutrients and other antioxidants, vitamins and minerals they contain. You'll feel energized and notice health problems disappearing along with a fast weight loss.

You'll want to eat huge salads. I eat a giant salad every night for dinner and have a smaller salad at lunchtime and lots of fruits and freshly extracted juice throughout the day. And you don't have to give up a special food or two if you have to have it. If you are eating predominately raw foods you can have something that is important to you now and then.

I enjoy 100% raw foods myself and look forward to eating them. I no longer have any desire for foods that are not alive. Cooked foods are dead foods and I have no desire for them. I cured myself of breast cancer, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease, chronic sinus problems, headaches and many other health problems almost overnight!   • Selecting a diet that is too extreme or unrealistic for the long term. This would include "fad" or "crash" diets. They tend to be hard to stick with because you start to feel deprived.

Researchers at Purdue University studied rats and found that those which ate yoghurt sweetened with regular glucose ate fewer calories than those rats eating yoghurt artificially sweetened by sweeteners. They also put on more weight and couldn't get it off after the study was over.

Researchers determined that, instead of promoting healthy weight loss, artificial sweeteners like saccharin actually changes the way the body regulates food intake . This trouble with self-regulation of intake of calories sweetened artificially might explain why the American public has gotten heavier in spite of the use of zero-calorie sweeteners.

Overall, science is on the fence about the effect of these types of sweeteners with other studies supporting weight loss in those who consumed artificial sweeteners. Even other studies have shown no appreciable change in eating behavior and the use of such sweeteners. What's true is that most studies don't take adequate accounting of what the individual has been eating or drinking prior to the study which might impact the outcome of the study.

To study healthy weight loss, three separate experimental studies were obtained that looked at saccharin and its ability to alter the intake of the laboratory animals and paid attention to the weight gain, caloric intake at the time and whether or not the animal cut back as a means of compensating for the intake of the various sweeteners.

Interestingly, the study also determined the body temperature of the animals before eating. It should be higher as the body prepares its metabolic rate to consume the food. It was found that when saccharin was used, there was a diminished or blunted response to core body temperature when the rats were trained to eat saccharin. This makes it more difficult to burn off caloric content eaten.

Those who studied the effects of saccharin on healthy weight loss recognize that the study results don't make sense in the traditional way of seeing things. They also recognize that the studies were mostly done on lab rats. Yet, there is evidence to suggest that humans who drink diet drinks develop more obesity and come down with metabolic syndrome at a higher rate than those who do not drink diet sodas.

Experts suggest that the system gets confused by the belief that sugar will be taken in along with a lot of calories an cannot process the calories well when there is no real sugar associated with the calories. It may result in a reduced expenditure of bodily energy.

Fortunately, people can continue to watch caloric intake and still maintain or lose body weight. While it's true that counting calories is harder than just drinking diet soda, it is the only real way of losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight loss. Other sweeteners, such as sucralose, acesulfame K and aspartame haven't been as well studied but it is expected that the results would be much the same.

Your heartbeat should not exceed 86 beats per minute and if you are in any doubt at all about your blood pressure it would be wise to visit your doctor for a check up. If your heartbeat exceeds 90 beats a minute under no circumstances take weight loss pills.
