What is Ultrasonic Liposuction?
Thursday, January 15, 2009
If you are looking for a way to lose body fat without going under the knife, you may want to consider getting ultrasonic liposuction. The question that may pop into your mind right away is, "What is ultrasonic liposuction?" Well, it is a procedure that is done to help people get rid of excess body fat. This may seem like a new option or trend, but in fact, it has been around since 1987. There are two ways you can have ultrasonic liposuction performed; internal and external.
What are ultrasonic liposuction internal procedures like? With the internal liposuction option, a vibrating cannula is inserted to help dissolve the fat in your body. Once the fat is loosened with tumescent fluid that is inserted with the canulla, the vibrations then begin to break down the fatty cells. Besides vibrations and tumescent fluid, heat is also used. The fat is broken down into oil and begins to mix with the fluid. After this occurs, it is suctioned out with the canulla and a suction vacuum.
Now, what are ultrasonic liposuction external procedures like? If you really want to leave the office with virtually no scars, you can go with the external liposuction treatment. It uses ultrasonic energy that comes in the form of paddle-like instruments that are placed over the skin areas that needs fat removed. It begins to vibrate, which also helps to break down the fat that is "burned" with the ultrasonic energy. This option isn't really used a lot because there is little evidence that it actually works - at least not as well as the internal ultrasonic lipo procedure.
Many people who find out the answer to, "What is ultrasonic liposuction?" have decided to have their bodies treated. The most popular areas to get ultrasonic liposuction are the hips, buttocks, chin, face, tummy and arms. The internal procedure has been proven to remove fat, especially since the procedure does involve the action of sucking out the fat. Some people even use the fat that is removed to be placed in their lips to enhance them; this can be done in both men and women.
What makes ultrasonic liposuction so popular is that it offers permanent results. The fat doesn't return; this especially so for individuals who have passed the puberty stage. After puberty, the body no longer creates new fat cells, making the procedure a very beneficial one. When a person gains weight, it is due to the expanding of fat cells that are already in your body, so once you have liposuction done, the fat cells that remain will be the only ones affected.
Be sure to ask your physician what ultrasonic liposuction is and if it can benefit you. There have been some reports of blood clots forming, caused by the heat that is used. If you already have diabetes or any other health complications that can cause blood clots, you may want to speak with your physician to see if you should consider this procedure.
